Artificial Wetlands

Microclimate is well equipped to manage artificial wetlands.  We have years of experience in wetland management.  Microclimate has experience with revegetation and maintenance of over 30 wetland systems, and numerous GPT's, trash racks and drainage lines throughout NSW.

Microclimate can provide the following services:

  • wetland design and maintenance
  • advice on species appropriateness for revegetation
  • weed control - aquatic and terrestrial
  • waste management
  • erosion and siltation control

Some examples of Microclimates work in this area include:

HORNSBY SHIRE COUNCIL - GPT AND WETLAND MAINTENANCE

Hornsby Council contracted Microclimate in 2000 to maintain its GPT's and artificial wetland systems. The project has included weed control, revegetation, plant maintenance, waste removal, erosion control and the reporting, monitoring and recording of wetland condition.

ROADS &  TRAFFIC AUTHORITY NSW - F3 FREEWAY SEDIMENT POND REVEGETATION

Microclimate was responsible for evaluating the vegetation status  of sediment basins along the F3 Freeway in northern Sydney. This freeway borders Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park.  Our objective was to reintroduce local provenance native plant material to these artificial ponds and their surrounds. All steps in this process from assessment, rehabilitation design, revegetation and maintenance were successfully carried out by our skilled staff.  An extensive report was produced at the completion of the project for the RTA.

RAILCORP NSW - CREEKLINE REHABILITATION

In July 2004, Microclimate was contracted by RailCorp NSW to rehabilitate a damaged creekline adjacent to the rail corridor, in Awaba NSW. Microclimate arranged to have the creek returned to a 'natural' shape and then proceeded to stabilise and revegetate the area with locally indigenous native species. This planting included both terrestrial and aquatic planting and was very successful.
